Crossbows can be classified according to dimensions such as structure, power source, and purpose: traditional crossbows (such as the Song Dynasty divine arm crossbow with a wooden straight arm structure), composite crossbows (using carbon fiber crossbows with double cam systems for higher kinetic energy), and anti curved crossbows (with a curved crossbow arm design to increase arrow speed); According to the power source, it can be divided into mechanical crossbows (pure tension driven), pneumatic crossbows (compressed air fired steel balls), and electric crossbows (motor assisted winding); Classified by purpose, it is divided into hunting crossbows (high kinetic energy, equipped with wide headed arrows), competitive crossbows (lightweight, high-precision sights), military crossbows (silent design, capable of firing armor piercing arrows or non lethal bullets), and rescue crossbows (used for long-range throwing of ropes).
